Confirming this. I just updated to 2.6.31-11 and the update broke Intel
945GM support.

I just ran apport-collect from the previous kernel booting, will now add output from:
2.6.31-11-lpia #38-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 2 11:36:10 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
