[Bug 449061] Re: [K8M800] Console screens unusable on Averatec 3280 laptop
What I have done so far is to boot the Alpha-4, Alpha-6, and Beta live
CDs.
This does not happen with those two Alpha versions.
With the Beta version, it's a bit different. When I switch to consoles 3
through 6, I get a blank screen, instead of the flashing colors, and I
don't seem to be able to log in (using a previously-set root password),
but I can switch back with alt-F7 to X.
Ctrl-alt-F2 gives me a screen showing messages about 'cardbus cards are
not supported' (reported in another bug report). Ctrl-alt-F1 shows some
startup messages.
The Beta is definitely using an openchrome driver along with vesa - that
shows up in Xorg.0.log.
I didn't check that in the Alpha versions - I'll go back and check
Alpha-6 ...
