Message #28403
[Bug 453989] [NEW] Xephyr - unrecognised device identifier!
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
This worked in Intrepid
$ Xephyr -ac -screen 800x600 -br -reset -terminate :1.0 &
$
Then I could do
$ export DISPLAY=:1.0
$
Then run a program in the nested Xserver (I used this to run xnview 1.7
linux in KDE4 due to unresolvable transparency issues).
Now when I run
$ Xephyr -ac -screen 800x600 -br -reset -terminate :1.0 &
The following gets spit out in terminal and there is a hang and no
return to a prompt:
unrecognised device identifier!
(EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceRequest failed (2)
unrecognised device identifier!
(EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceRequest failed (2)

When the Xephyr window is closed, this is reported:
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0.0"
after 50 requests (50 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
