thanx, that last paragraph about errors got me thinking that's not the
final solution. So the current solution works perfectly, but has
horrible code? if it works, isn't that enough to include it in the
standard repos?

I'm glad to hear at least there's an effort on the way to rewrite...
from the post and this thread it sounded like no one wants to touch it.
