[Bug 442441] Re: Touchpad and mouse buttons not working after upgrade from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10

I checked, and sure enough, I am booting into the old kernel from 9.05.
But grub doesn't list the new kernel. I went in and changed menu.lst and
nothing I do seems to have any effect on what is display at boot time. I
can edit the kernel name to boot, and boot into 2.6.31-14-generic, but a
few seconds after I have logged in (with the gui) the system locks up,
hard...only solution is a power cycle. I am not sure what's going on - I
am going to running the memory test for a while and make sure I don't
have bad ram.
