I am experiencing this bug on karmic with ATI Mobility Radeon 7500
Graphics Controller on a Dell C640. I have problems with the OSD-
notifications and with System Monitor.

I have not been able to run Xorg -configure because there is a lock file
/tmp/.X0-lock that I can't seem to work around. I tried the recovery
console but fails to go into recovery mode and just boots back to the
login screen.

so yes, big problem here
