Have you tried the 190.xx drivers yourself? They don't fix the problem
for me:)

Btw, I've been using the workaround for over a week now, and it's great!
Compiz doesn't stutter when I flip windows, the GPU doesn't get any
hotter than normal (according to NVidia Settings)...
