[Bug 475254] [NEW] gnome display preferences crash system on setting monitor rotation

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I've plugged in an extra monitor into my HP Compaq nx7300 laptop.
I can get an extended desktop with both monitors being in their standard rotation, with all the proper resolution.

But if I rotate the external monitor (connected via VGA), choose the
corresponding rotation in the preferences dialog and press 'apply', I
get two black screens with one mouse-pointer showing. Waiting for 5
minutes, trying to restart x or going to a console (CTRL-ALT-Nr) all
don't work, the only option I have is rebooting.

I'd expect the preferences dialog to revert to the last setting known to
work instead of not doing anything and (apparently) crashing my whole
system.
