In my case... the driver wacom not suport mi table (Waltop Tablet) so..
the xorg crash every time that I plug in the tablet.

this is taken from xorg.log attached by you: "172f is not supported by
linuxwacom" my tablet are the same and says me exactly the same.

Now mi tablet work like did on jaunty.
