[Bug 379228] Re: screen starts flashing and freezes or crashes X

I am experiencing the problem described. I started experiencing the
problem after switching to 9.10 (don't know if i were using the 180 or
185-driver), i have tried upgrading to the 190.42-driver from the nvidia
website, but i still have this problem. I also noticed some other bugs:

* Pixels are flickering on random when using my default resolution of
1680x1050, and with this resolution it takes approximately 10 minutes
until the screen starts flashing, the mouse locks up and finally the
system locks up leaving my screen is half black and half gnome-panel
colored.

* When using a lower resolution, like 1440x900, i experience no
flickering pixels, and it takes _much_ longer for my system to crash,
though it still does.

* When everything is locked up half black and half panel colored,
sometimes, the desktop as it were when everything froze will appear
while moving the mouse (though the cursor or anything else will not
respond)

* I do not experience this problem without the nvidia driver, but then
my system instead fails to resume from suspend (perhaps not directly
relevant for this bug)
