Still happening with

KDE Version: 4.3.3 (KDE 4.3.3)
Qt Version: 4.5.3
Operating System: Linux version 2.6.31-14-generic (buildd@crested) (gcc version 4.4.1 (Ubuntu 4.4.1-4ubuntu8) )
Distribution: Kubuntu 9.10
Nvidia drivers: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module  190.42  Tue Oct 20 20:25:42 PDT 2009

The usual way that I stop this is to press alt-shift-f12 to disable
compiz, then enable it again and quickly use the 3d cube to go around a
few virtual desktops. Maybe some strange OpenGL interaction ?

Of course, after a while (maybe a few hours), I get back to the same
situation
