Hi Bryce,
this might be helpful.

I am now not using Ubuntu (nor Mint or OpenSuse) for the reason that my
monitor is not being allowed to display its native resolution through the
Gforce 6150 onboard GPU. However, it is high time for me to change this
motherboard and when I do I will test Ubuntu again because I really thought
highly of this distro apart from this its (to me now too serious) bug.

Monitor and video card combination does not support DDC1 transfers
Monitor and video card combination does not support DDC2 transfers
0 seconds per 128 byte EDID block transfer
Screen is not blanked during DDC transfer

Reading next EDID block

VBE/DDC service about to be called
    Read EDID

    Performing real mode VBE call
    Interrupt 0x10 ax=0x4f15 bx=0x1 cx=0x0
    Function supported
    Call failed

The EDID data should not be trusted as the VBE call failed
Error: output block unchanged

With or without the NVIDIA driver installed the system while booting appears to initially detect and display the correct resolution 1920x1200 but late in the boot-process it reverts (regardless of correct and trouble-free procedure for saving) to 1280x1024
