[Bug 481349] Re: Karmic: intel i915 crash (locked up - had to power off)

 

I can also confirm this bug on a similar machine with this intel video chipset :
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 01)

I neither have a screen saver nor desktop effects. This is a fresh and updated install.
while freezing, the mouse cursor still moves on the screen, but the keyboard is inactive (Caps Lock doesn't work)
It happens randomly, sometimes a few seconds after booting

I've also noticed this in xorg.0.log :

(II) LoadModule: "i810"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module i810
(II) UnloadModule: "i810"
(EE) Failed to load module "i810" (module does not exist, 0)
