'SIGH' - See Immediate & Gracious Help? Thank you, it is appreciated;  
as a Microsoft expert trying to make the switchover, one thing I  
notice is how eager to help the open source community is.

I did nothing except follow the DVD install to the letter, and then  
install the proprietary graphics drivers that the OS prompted me to,  
in the desperate hope it would stop the onboard fan continuously  
running at full pelt. So I am still none the wiser.
