Message #38796
[Bug 487804] Re: Touchpad not working
** Description changed:
Binary package hint: hal
Touchpad was working with ubuntu 9.04 but stopped working when I
installed 9.10
+
+ === Diagnosis ===
+ Run 'uname -a' and determine if the kernel version matches with the current OS (2.6.31 for Karmic). If the kernel version is incorrect, then the problem is likely caused by driver incompatibilities.
+
+ === Fix ===
+ Modifying the /boot/grub/menu.lst file to include the correct kernel entry to boot into is necessary. Usually, 'sudo update-grub' should be sufficient. Then reboot the computer.
** Also affects: grub (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Confirmed
