[Bug 496415] Re: Lucid: Low Graphics mode only available as vmware guest
I'm trying today's Lucid daily (x86-64) inside a kvm guest running on a
Karmic host (started with testdrive), and if I pass "-vga vmware" to
kvm, then I also end up in low-graphics mode because the vmware X driver
doesn't work.
kvm/qemu is creating this PCI device:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: VMware SVGA II Adapter
[15ad:0405]
And my Xorg.0.log ends the same way:
[ 0.135617] (II) Loading extension DRI2
[ 0.135623] (II) LoadModule: "vmware"
[ 0.135824] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/vmware_drv.so
[ 0.141726] (II) Module vmware: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
compiled for 1.7.2, module version = 10.16.8
Module class: X.Org Video Driver
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 6.0
