Message #38903
[Bug 433075] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV on ATI hybrid graphics laptop with fglrx enabled
I have the same problem, with identical backtrace in Xorg.log, My
configuration is:
Kubuntu 9.10 x86_64
ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series
Composition turned on (KWin desktop effects)
xserver-xorg 1:7.4+3ubuntu10
libgl1-mesa-glx 7.6.0-1ubuntu4
libdrm2 2.4.14-1ubuntu1
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.9.0-1ubuntu2
xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.12.99+git20090929.79
ATI Catalist driver v9.11 (fglrx 8.671)
On my system, the bug occurs only in one place (not always, but
frequently):
1. New email received in Kmail
2. I try to make a selection of some text in received email, X crashes completely, even Ctrl-Alt-Fn is not functional.
Note: in 99% of cases, email where crash happened is lost, so take care
if you are testing.
It does not happens always, but enough frequently that it is annoying. I
even try to avoid starting a selection on a newly received email in
kmail, but happens sometimes.
