I switched compiz off, I reverted to xserver-xorg-video-intel-2.4 and I
decided to never hibernate or suspend. And freezes still happen everyday
or so.

Now I'm with Linux ubuntu 2.6.31-17-generic #54-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 10
17:01:44 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

in an Acert TravelMate5730 with driver i915 for:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)

When it freezes, I cannot login from another machine, so I cannot get a
dump : (.
