[Bug 497954] Re: Random full screen flash then xorg-server crash back to login screen
I don't know if this has anything to do with this problem, but I keep wondering if it was from gdm? So, went to a virtual console (ctl+alt+f1), logged in and did a 'sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop', to stop the login screen. Then I started X via 'startx'. I thought I might atleast see any messages that may helped. Anyway, That has been 6 hours and it has had the 'flicker then crash' since. However, X did freeze up one time. The mouse still moved around but would not do anything. The activity wheel on opera mail way downloading and that and the mouse moving was the only functions that was moving.
I tried a ctl+alt+backspace and did nothing. I had to go back to the virtual console I started and did ctl+c and then started X again. Still working so for without gdm running.
I look at the logs for gdm and found this:
(gnome-settings-daemon:11606): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_propagate_error: assertion `src != NULL' failed

I don't know if this has anything to do with it but this doesn't look to good.
I hope this helps,
