Update:  Without GDM running the xserver will freeze rather than going
back to the login screen.

Also, in attempt to install rev. 195, I did something scrambled the
dependency setup.  I can not install ANY of the Nvidia servers.  I had
to remove all the nvidia servers and delete the xorg.conf file to force
the non-accelerated (nv) server to load.  It doen't look as good, but so
far(24 hours) no problems with NV.
