Sure, that's really a trivial workaround on a desktop box...

$ sudo apt-get remove dbus
[...]
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 361 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
After this operation, 1173MB disk space will be freed.

Are you sure you're using Ubuntu? :D
