Hi.
Try to install the openchrome package from Lucid:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/xserver-xorg-video-openchrome_0.2.904+svn812-1ubuntu1_i386.deb

Try use new mode switch by adding to your xorg.conf file following lines:
   Option "modeSwitch" "new"
