Should I try a new nvidia driver, kernel, X server ?

_any_ comments, suggestions, appreciated.

Didn't mention before but it's a PAE kernel.

Other wierd things I keep seeing are: (don't know if related)

(eclipse:8879): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times

and t-bird 3 segfaults:

0 %> thunderbird-3.0
Segmentation fault
0 11:58:22 bedge@ice  /home/bedge/Documents

139 %> thunderbird-3.0 -v
 Thunderbird-3.0 3.0.1pre, Copyright (c) 1998-2009 mozilla.org
0 11:58:26 bedge@ice  /home/bedge/Documents

deleting the t-bird config didn't help either.
