[Bug 506247] Re: Compositing cannot be re-enabled after upgrade
This is also true for me!
I've installed nvidia-current and nvidia-current-modialiases and resinstall xserver-xorg-core but there is an error if I launch glxinfo :
> $ glxinfo
> name of display: :0.0
> Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual or fbconfig
So Compiz, Cairo-Dock with OpenGL, Blender or other tools which use GLX
doesn't work.
If I install nvidia-glx-195, nvidia-195-kernel-source and
nvidia-195-modaliases (which were on nvidia vdpau ppa) the output of
glxinfo is now correct until I reboot my computer. But after the reboot,
Xorg crashes and I've to remove these beta Nvidia drivers (195). I know
that this package has to be updated (bug #494166 ) but this is the only
solution I find if I want to use newest drivers from deb packages. I
don't have tested older drivers from repositories like the 185 yet.
(these drivers has not as well adapted to my graphic chipset but I can
test if you want).
BTW, thanks Alberto for your great work on GNU/Linux and particularly on
Ubuntu ;)
