lucid is greatly improving. after the recent updates, the desktop can load with default settings (24 bits, KMS, no xorg.conf) it's a bit slow though, xv output doesn't work in gstreamer, gksu faded background is garbled, mouse hover over notifications is flickery.
16 bits works nice.
