[Bug 517579] Re: package nvidia-glx-185 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: failed in buffer_write(fd) (10, ret=-1): backend dpkg-deb during `./usr/lib/libGLcore.so.185.18.36'

Hello Charlie Kravetz,

The USB memory stick is 4 Gb. It may be worth mentioning that I have
also had trouble with an NVIDIA driver on my desktop machine. This was
with Ubuntu 8.10 and the driver was an earlier one. I can't remember
which one but I thilk it was 176 (the one before the currently
recommended one) What happened was that after installing the driver and
re-booting I lost the desktop completely and being totally new to Linux
at the time I had to re-install Ubuntu as I didn't know anything about
configuration files or how to edit them. I mention this because the
motherboard on my desktop machine is also made by Asus; perhaps there is
some incompatibility between Asus, NVIDIA and Linux
