I talked to airlied about this today, and he suggests it's a kernel
issue fixed by some commits upstream:

 if you are really intent on shipping 2.6.32 with KMS enabled it would be nice to backport 2.6.33 radeon into it
 otherwise I doubt we can really help you
 though I expect there are still some r100 issues
 its just not high on anyone's priority list

<airlied> bryceh: like if you ship 2.6.32 bits please tuirn off KMS

Forwarding the bug to the kernel team to ensure these patches are
included to solve this problem.
