** Description changed:

- When booting the live CD or USB, the screen goes blank when it starts
- xorg. Interestingly, the monitor stays on for a while and then seems to
- get power save commands normally. There is no picture, that's all.
+ On a VIA EPIA MII, using openchrome driver does not work.
  
- Going to a terminal works. Switching back does not help.
+ Symptoms:
+ - Produces no picture at all (with my screen occasionally going to power save and on again seemingly for no reason) OR
+ - Produces a garbled picture with something like a cursor blinking on an interlaced ubuntu-brown and black screen
  
- The hardware is a VIA EPIA MII, using Chrome driver.

+ - Mythbuntu Live CD
+ - Mythbuntu Live USB
+ - Ubuntu installed on HD from alternate, with latest updates

+ Going to a terminal works with the first symptom. Switching back does not help.

+ I have no clue what causes the two different symptoms.
+ The rest of the system is stable, i.e. I can SSH in.
