[Bug 478859] Re: [i945GM] Multiple monitors not supported
Clone works upon Logging In.
If you Log In without being connected to the second monitor, you will
not be able to use the second monitor for that session.
Logging Out and Logging In again will allow you to use the second
monitor.
Switching Users (not logging out) and switching back to the first
account will NOT allow you to use the second monitor. You can, however,
use the second monitor on any other account (and the login screen).
In short: Can only use monitors that are connected at the time of Login.
Disconnecting (after login) and reconnecting at a later time (without logging out) does not prevent you from using the second monitor. Sometimes, however, the mouse is stuck in the same place (wherever it was when you disconnected) on the second monitor (does not affect the first monitor - at least in my case).
Not sure if any of that will help - hope it does though.
