Message #48097
[Bug 345057] [NEW] 'vbetool dpms on' following '...off' produces a malformed display
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
1. 'vbetool dpms on' following 'vbetool dpms off' produces a malformed display (displaced right and cropped)
This only happens when using DVI output. There is no problem when using analogue.
Ubuntu 8.10; Kernel 2.6.27.11-generic; gnome 2.24.1; default open
source video driver (nv)
sudo lshw -C video produces:
' *-display UNCLAIMED
description: VGA compatible controller
product: NV44A [GeForce 6200]
vendor: nVidia Corporation
physical id: 0
bus info: pci@0000:01:00.0
version: a1
width: 32 bits
clock: 66MHz
capabilities: pm agp agp-3.0 cap_list
configuration: latency=40 maxlatency=1 mingnt=5'
I have attached the xorg log
2. With analogue output, when the nVidia proprietary drivers are used
(versions 173 or 177) then 'vbetool dpms on' functions identically to
'vbetool dpms off', extinguishing the display but not restoring it.
3. I haven't tried DVI output with the nVidia drivers.
** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-nv (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
