I have a Dell Studio 1737 laptop with an ATI 3650.  I have ubuntu 9.10
installed and am using the ati propriety driver with the same problems
as described here.

Firstly I have tried updating to the latest ATi driver (10.2) and the
problem is still there.  I then tried tx's solution (post #389) and it
also did not fix the issue, baring in mind I am now using 10.2.  Lastly
I tried k0ekk0ek's solution and it worked flawlessly, thanks so much! :D

I'm relatively new to Linux and I have no idea if upgrading to catalyst
10.2 is a good idea, but so far so good with k0ekk0ek's solution :)
