I can confirm Ubuntu 10.04 fixes the problem in so far as fgrlx isn't
needed anymore. The free drivers provide desktop effects.

Tested with Ubuntu 10.04 Alpha 3 Live CD, Dell Studio XPS 16 with Radeon
HD3670.
