[Bug 531661] [NEW] (X|U|Ku)buntu installs are broken when using the netinstaller and encrypting the home directory

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I used the netinstaller from

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/lucid/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/netboot.tar.gz

Date of the file was 23-Feb-2010 23:03

I tried installing Ubuntu desktop, Kubuntu desktop and Xubuntu desktop (each time only selecting a single option... so for example Ubuntu was selected and nothing else). I always told the installer to encrypt my home directory.
After the OS was installed, logging in with my user name won't work: The log in screen will disappear as if it was logging in, then the screen will either stay blank or the log in screen will re-appear (depends on whether using Kubuntu or Ubuntu/Xubuntu...)

After I tried installing Kubuntu/Xubuntu without encrypted home
directory logging in works (did not try Ubuntu because I want Xfce or
KDE and the bug is probably affecting all 3 anyway).

** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
