even though same version is installed by synaptic and activated as shown by hardware driver but visual effects Extra or normal are not working. Over and above, the NVIDIA has released 96.43.16...... on installing it gives the "the distribution-provided pre-install script error".
Seems NVIDIA does not know about it .... or do they have solution ?
Launchpad should ask nvidia to provide repository so that drivers are downloaded and updated as and when released. Secondly all bug reports be passed on to NVIDIA team for their corrective action.
