[Bug 543220] Re: TV display cycles out of sync - C51PV [GeForce 6150]

One interesting thing I can add:
I'm running the latest Lucid Lynx with all updates and with a geforce2pro graphics card. This system serves as a mediacenter connected via cinch to a classic television. Since the system went to standby during the last (remote)update something got corrupted and after playing for 30min I decided to reinstall, since it seemed faster...
with the daily iso of today (3/25/2010) I reinstalled and now also got flickering on startup and then a message that only low graphics mode is possible which I could only see using nvtv.... however this is only the case, when ONLY the TV is attached via cinch. If I keep a monitor connected and use nvtv for tv-output I don't get any flickering on the tv, instead the nice animated plymouth bootup on the monitor and afterwards nvtv starts the tv-mode without errors.

however before it was possible to just have the TV attached and not
getting any error messages... so I assume it must have to do with the
nouveau driver, that has to report some information about the connected
monitor, and when only a tv via cinch is connected, there is no
information.... just a wild guess here but maybe it helps....
