one addition: after playing a bit more I had to find out that there is now way to automatically startnvtv (which I need on this tv)... when putting the line that worked before in /etc/rc.local the tv is flickering but the desktop remains on the monitor (not the tv).. when putting it as a script in the startup applications in gnome the tv only flickers, the monitor is black... only by logging in remotely and running the nvtv line manually everything is as it used to be... the line I'm using is 
nvtv -t -r800,600 -SPAL -sHuge &
