Great! The nomodeset trick worked fine. Thank you for this cool workaround.

However, even after processing the latest updates, nomodeset was still
necessary as boot option. The issue still is not fixed, then.... I hope
they do fix it; the developers don't react anymore in this thread,
apparently.
