You might try seeing if vt switching to vt1 and back clears it (I've
seen this in a few cases).

But for debugging, what you need is a pair of GPU dumps - one from when
the system is behaving correctly, and another from when it's black.
This lets the developers compare the two and see what registers have
changed.

Also, if you have KMS enabled then this is going to be a kernel drm
issue, so let me know if that's the case and we'll bump this over to the
kernel team.
