I don't know if it is related but in Lucid Lynx I've had a similar
issue. My video card is intel however:

$ lspci

What's odd is I can be working along no problems what so ever and then
the screen starts to shake. I simple alt-tab to another window and it
stops. I think it may be related to other windows trying to get focus
but I'm not 100% sure.
