I got the same problem when upgrading from Karmic to Lucid.

I can reliably reproduce the problem by debugging a program with DDD, and right-clicking on a variable in the data window.
The pointer get's stuck in the data window, and no gnome window manager shortcuts work.

To get the machine back to a usable state, I have to switch to the
console by pressing ALT+F2, and doing killall ddd.
