 I run Kubuntu Lucid beta1 on VM x86 64 and after the last update i found a message in my log about KDM:

2010-04-04 15:03:40	KDELucidTest	kdm[634]	X server termination timeout, killing
2010-04-04 15:03:41	KDELucidTest	kdm[634]	X server died during startup
2010-04-04 15:03:41	KDELucidTest	kdm[634]	Failed to start X server. Starting failsafe X server.
