Message #58995
[Bug 538501] Re: [Lucid] Xorg crashes when you plug in a monitor
** Description changed:
Binary package hint: xorg
So I can use Ubuntu from a live CD, I have to unplug my monitor during
boot up and plug it back in again after boot, so the resolution is
correct. This bug is explained here:
- drivers/+bug/527638
+ https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/529387
I unplug my monitor and boot up lucid, once boot is complete, I plug in
my monitor, but xorg crashes. The screen displays a messed up desktop
(see screenshot). What is very odd, if I hit my power button, it will
successful shut down and even ask to eject my cd!
My computer is a Acer Aspire Revo R3600, with a nVidia ION chip. I am
guessing it will be using the nvidia open source drivers.
I'm sorry I cant give you any more details with config and log files,
but i cant get access to the desktop.
