[Bug 474455] Re: [g33] dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg (with sudo) ends abruptly. Does not show the configuration screens.
This is not a bug, but the expected behaviour; in almost all cases X no
longer requires an xorg.conf. dpkg-reconfigure no longer creates an
xorg.conf, so it doesn't ask any questions.
If you want to create a basic xorg.conf you can use “sudo X -configure”,
which will write out an xorg.conf matching your current hardware. In
Ubuntu 10.04 you will also be able to put configuration snippets into
/etc/xorg.conf.d
