I agree that this is not a showstopper.
I think that the problem is not only the memory copying from Plymouth to X but also the correct X init.
I do not understand why it really ignores the xorg.conf settings.
For the present situation, that is better, I believe that the kernel upgrades have done part of the job.
I am also considering a compile/install of 2.6.33.2

plymouth to X. That looks ugly, but isn't particularly concerning.

In about 3 out of 5 reboots the GDM login screen does not appear.
The only possible solution is to press power button and restart computer.
In about 1 out of 10 cases the X resolution is 800x600 and/or the screen is corrupted by vertical bars.
