[Bug 560777] Re: fglrx driver fails to load
The latest Catalyst drivers don't support Lucid yet. But Lucid already
includes a driver version that does work on Lucid. The package name is
fglrx. The control center comes in a separate package fglrx-amdcccle.
You can install them using Synaptics or aptitude or whatever your
favourite package manager is. I highly recommend you uninstall Catalyst
and then install the Ubuntu fglrx packages. Run "aticonfig --initial -f"
to activate fglrx and reboot.
Just to stress that point, uninstall Catalyst first by running
"/usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh". Do not install the Ubuntu fglrx
package over top of an existing Catalyst installation.
Hope this helps.
