[Bug 565643] Re: Xserver does not start due to drm problem

I tried an earlier kernel (2.6.32-16) which I am sure used to work, but
there is no change. It seems the issue lies within the driver. I tried
downgrading but there seem to be some issues. I can see the old deb
files using a locate, but apt-cache does not indicate their presence,
hence I cannot do an automatic downgrade. Here is a relevant log:

(I just noticed that I searched for the ati driver, and then got
information about radeon in the log above; the radeon deb files are also
present).

Could you suggest some route for safe downgrading? I could try using
dpkg -i directly from the cache but chasing dependencies could be a
significant issue.
