After throb screen (white Ubuntu logo), gdm never loaded, system went into text-mode.
Logged in & was going through logs.
Display went black, keyboard was unresponsive - required hard reset.
Restarted into recovery mode - no problems after ~20mins.
>From recovery menu I resumed normal boot - went into text-mode again.
I tried a `sudo gdm`, but it gave me some error about :0.22 not having privileges.
Restarted into Windows.
Restarted into Linux -15 kernel. gdm/login went flawlessly.
Restarted into Linux -16 kernel (newest/default). gdm/login went flawlessly.
Also attached is the syslog data from the times that the gui would not
load. 09:37:44 [ 2.****] entires seem to be relevant...
As described, everything seems to be fine now...just very interesting
that booting a different kernel & then the default would fix a
graphics(?) problem.
I am using the radeon driver with a Radeon 9550 (RV350); and, I am using
"options radeon modeset=1" via a file under the /etc/modprobe.d/
directory.
