Really it's too late to do testing here at the distro level.  When we
could have used your help was like a month ago.  :-)

At this point we're waiting for things to be fixed upstream.  So
meanwhile, you can test the upstream kernel drm code and report to them
of any problems.

The fix for this issue is almost 99.99% likely to come in the form of a
kernel update, and so your testing should be focused around kernel
patching and testing.

No, the cleaning there was to delete the UMS code, i.e. remove the
possibility to select KMS or non-KMS.  So using 2.10 would be basically
the same as using i915.modeset=1 only.

Also, don't get too hung up on the -intel DDX driver.  These days
xserver-xorg-video-intel has very little relevant code left in it;
pretty much all the important bits have moved to the kernel drm.  So
it's really not that important any more what version of -intel you run,
what matters is what version of the kernel you're booting.
