rafik: your issue is because you kept around an old xorg.conf with an
invalid set of options

The ModulePath specifically, nvidia drivers in lucid are in /usr/lib/xorg/extra-modules now which isn't getting used because you are forcing it to just use that one path. Removing your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and running sudo nvidia-xconfig will fix it though!
