[Bug 505213] Re: ubuntu 9.10 screen displays colored pixel garbage and system hangs on shutdown

 

Bryce, thanks for the follow up with my video issues.  I created a Lucid
boot disk, tested it on another computer (the burn and content was
verified) and tried it with this currently unusable presario.  Here's
what happened when I tried 10.04 desktop amd64 boot disk:

Compaq screen (always first allowing shift into BIOS or other troubleshooting)
Purple ubuntu screen (with two small white icons on the bottom)
black screen with white blinking underscore in top left corner for 8 secs
Screen goes to horizontal pixel garbage while CD is active and HD light is active as well for about another minute.

Ideas?
